All Over the Map, But Coming Back To Focus

Sorry all, it's been sort of a crazy week or two and this blog has been all over the map with lots of non-China entries and some that weren't really up to the standards we'd like to think we've set for the blog. We've got a number of entries in the pipeline and will hopefully have them up in the next few days.

While we're at it, make sure to stop by Chinalyst and vote for us! We're a bit back in the polls right now, but we believe we can make a come back. I don't mind losing to China Smack, which is a great blog that I really respect, as they do so much work translating interesting stories from the Chinese web for English speakers. However, we don't want to lose to the current leader, a blog that looks like it could win a China Blog award despite the fact the writer(s) seems to hate China.

Wasn't Lei Feng also famous throughout the Red Army as the best sock-washer that ever ran away from an enemy?

Anyway, Grasshopper, have a truly wonderful day, and remember: If your God appears to hate you, the solution is easy - hate him back. It works for me every time.

Happy happy everyday!

Is the Blog 2009 awards about who a blog wants to win or lose to? Isn't it about which blog we-the-voters like best?

mylaowai, what a garbage post, but its not surprising. These awards have been turned into a joke, people just constantly resetting their IP using proxies, thats probably how a blog like mylaowai, which nobody has ever heard of, can be in first.

I'm supporting you as much as I can, but I think its about time to support China Smack, or else mylaowai will really win.

Let's be constructive, Anonymous... Here is my New-York-Times stylish case for voting for mylaowai. Why don't you make your case for China Smack? Methinks that should be better than calling a competition a joke on the one hand, and still bothering about who wins on the other.

you make a great case, just recently, my laowai, in your own words is sometimes offensive and in bad taste. That's certainly putting it lightly, I'd also add racist. I removed my blog from the competition this year, the voting system is crappy and easily manipulated, I'm putting a fiver down that all but 5 of mylaowai's votes are from mylaowai, who has ever read that blog?

Racist is a handy term. I prefer to use it housewifely - to me it seems to have become inflational especially when the real issues are politics and power. As for the fiver, I don't see much sense in allegations without proof. I leave the issue of voting accuracy to Chinalyst, I vote once per blog, and I'll look at the final results with much interest (while keeping possible flaws and distortions in mind).

Lots of assumptions... Anyway - for me, blogs are the issue.

That's the end of this discussion...Legendary, I generally agree with what you said and I don't like mylaowai either, but you crossed the line.

Let mylaowai be, he and his proxies are boring me already.
